A passion for food and a long-standing family tradition influenced Executive Chef Avery Pursell. Avery developed her culinary curiosity while helping at her aunt’s restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska at age five. As a young girl she would often cook for her family and pretend she was hosting her own cooking shows. Avery attended the Los Angeles Culinary Institute apprenticing under Certified Master Chefs. She assisted instructing classes and participating in many competitions. Avery eventually ventured to Alaska where she helped in the launching of an innovative Italian restaurant in Anchorage. Returning to Los Angeles proved to have more opportunity for growth and experience in the culinary arts. There, she gained prominent fine dining experience at some of Los Angeles’s top restaurants such as Spago’s of Beverly Hills, home to Celebrity Chef Wolfgang Puck and Vida with Chef Fred Eric. Chef Avery then entered in to the catering profession, where she quickly topped her peers and excelled in the art of catering and event planning. Thereafter, Chef Avery taught culinary arts at a local college and private elementary schools. Avery still continues to shadow at restaurants as a way of continuing to bring restaurant quality food to the catering industry and gain knowledge working closely with some of the world’s most reputable Chefs, such as, Top Chef Alumni Chef Marcel Vigneron and World Renowned Chef Gordon Ramsay. She has served on the Board of Director’s for the International Caterer’s Association Culinary Council, a member of The American Culinary Federation, Worldwide Chefs Association. She competed and received a silver medal in the Kitchen Contenders Catering Chefs Challenge held in Las Vegas. Most recently she was competed in an international Chef competition show.
